About the Team

The Jira Design team focuses on evolving Jira into a cutting-edge work management tool for all types of teams, serving as the cornerstone of Atlassian’s comprehensive view of modern, collaborative work.

What You'll Need to Bring

As a Lead Product Designer, you’ll be responsible for creating exceptional user experiences. This role involves mentoring the Jira design team, leading strategic design projects, and ensuring that multiple initiatives come together to present a unified vision of Jira’s design.

As a Product Designer at Atlassian, You Will:

  • Make a Significant Impact: With over 10 million users worldwide, your designs will influence how teams of all sizes use our software. You’ll shape the entire product experience, from initial strategy to final UI implementation.
  • Exercise Ownership and Autonomy: You’ll oversee the complete design process, defining end-to-end experiences rather than just individual features.
  • Collaborate with Top Talent: Work with a diverse, multidisciplinary team including Engineers, Product Managers, Content Designers, Researchers, Marketing Experts, and Analysts to enhance user experiences and deliver high-quality work.
  • Champion the User Experience: Join us in our mission to become a leading design organization by ensuring our products are loved for their ease of use and effectiveness.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • 9+ years of professional product design experience, working at visual, UX and conceptual design altitudes
  • Experience designing complex or enterprise-level software,
  • The ability to drive a user-centered design process
  • Facilitation and cross-functional collaboration skills: you can demonstrate the ability to work with multiple teams, solicit and synthesize feedback, and facilitate design discussions
  • Openness to the iterative design process – constantly sketching, showing work in progress, validating with customers and data, iterating, shipping, learning, and growing
  • Experience conducting and applying customer research (together with our research team), including design thinking, prototyping, and conceptual modelling
  • A collaborative approach to building capabilities in tight partnership with customers - our customers are very engaged, and our designers speak with customers multiple times per week demoing prototypes, getting feedback on ideas, and gathering ideas for improvement during early access programs
  • The ability to define projects and measures of success, test your assumptions and outcomes, and incorporate feedback
  • Experience improving process and methodology to increase product quality, team velocity and customer empathy
